绣山讲坛第344讲 Complexity and imperfections in Mechanical System

作者:   已浏览:60次 更新日期:2024-05-08

报告题目:Complexity and imperfections in Mechanical System

报告时间:2024 年 5 月 10 日 ,星期五,14:00-15:00

报告地点:龙赛理科楼南楼519会议室

主讲人:Professor Francesco Pellicano  University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Modena, Italy

摘要:The seminar aims to provide an overview of complex dynamic phenomena occurring in mechanical systems with diverse natures and characteristics. It explores the impact of perturbing factors and imperfections on systems characterized by symmetries, both in shaping and altering their route to chaos. Additionally, it delves into the emergence of chaos and its effects on symmetry breaking. The seminar is divided into two parts: i) gear vibrations; ii) dynamics and stability of shells; with Complexity serving as a unifying theme.Gear vibrations are the focus of this study, which examines two types of gears: planetary gearboxes and spiral bevel gear pairs. Numerical models are constructed, incorporating factors such as backlash and time-varying stiffness, to explore the effects of nonlinearity and other complexities. The dynamic behavior is thoroughly analyzed, with particular emphasis on chaotic dynamics and the impact of misalignments on the dynamic response. The dynamics and stability of shells are examined in this study. Nonlinear models of thin-walled shells are explored, with an emphasis on meshless methods and multimodal reduced-order analysis. The discussion also addresses the influence of imperfections on both linear and nonlinear dynamics. Additionally, experimental findings are used to explore the interaction between shells and non-Newtonian fluids.

主讲人简介:Francesco Pellicano obtained his MS degree in Aeronautical Engineering and Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics at the “La Sapienza” University of Roma in Italy. He is currently Full Professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Italy where is the Head of the Intermech research center for mechanics. He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. He is the incoming Secretary and Award Committee Member of the Applied Mechanics Division (AMD) of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He is the General Chair of the International Symposium on Vibrations of Continuous Systems and the Track Chair at the 2024 IMECE Congress of the ASME. His research activities are in mechanical vibrations, fluid-structure interaction, nonlinear vibrations of shells, gear dynamics and vibration control.
